About Me

Certified by Karen Pryor Academy and Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers

I have trained dogs using different training methods in the past.

Several years ago I watched a demonstration at Guide Dogs for the Blind where the trainer used clicker training to get a Black Lab to lead her to a bus stop. Not only was that dog focused on his handler but he looked like he was having fun! I knew this training method was something I needed to learn more about. I am positively reinforced each and every day when I see the results with my clients dogs and with my personal dogs.

Experienced Dog Trainer

I have lived with German Shepherd Dogs all my life and trained them to compete in confirmation, obedience and flyball. I certified two dogs for therapy work at Cottage Hospital and the public libraries in Santa Barbara and Goleta. As a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind I have raised 11 Guide Dog puppies.

I am a proud member of the Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue Team and am currently training a trailing puppy to serve our community.

Clicker training impulse control at the door

Going outside at night is very exciting due to all the bunnies, skunks, and opossums. Teaching impulse control at doors helps your dog focus on his handler and not what may be outside waiting to be chased.
